Age: Unknown – he appears to be in his mid to late thirties.

Sexuality: Not interested, thank you very much.

Appearance: Vexen stands at about 5’6”, with a frame slight enough to not be taken seriously in a fight but sturdy enough to ensure he’d survive said fight. Bright green eyes shine with the intellect and cold arrogance that comprise personality. Dull blond hair hangs past his shoulders – he’s far too busy conducting scientific experiments in his lab to care about keeping it looking relatively presentable, or even pulling it back out of his way. This same lack of care extends to his choice of clothing, and he wears the same outfit day in and day out. As a member of Organization XIII, however, that outfit consists of the black overcoat with silver zipper, black knee-high boots, and black gloves. Whatever he decides to wear under his uniform can be presumed to be simple, functional, and also black.

Personality: Vexen is a dedicated scientist with a personality to match the element he controls: ice. He could care less about the moral quandaries that surround his latest experiments, the well-being of his test subjects, or really anything that doesn’t directly affect his experiments or the results they might produce. Completely lacking anything resembling a heart might have something to do with that, for Vexen is a Nobody and by definition has no heart, no emotions, no compassion.
Vexen can also be very proud, especially of his status and ranking in Organization XIII – he is number IV, the Chilly Academic, and will thank you to remember it.
This pride allows him to be easily riled. He does not deal well with insults, and is especially touchy to the presence of any of the “neophytes” in the organization, especially Marluxia and Larxene. Nobody should be allowed to give their betters that much disrespect and get away with it, and yet the Superior lets it slide! Absolutely disgraceful.

The smallest perceived slight can set him off, ranting shrilly to anybody who will listen (and to his lab equipment when nobody will). He believes himself to be an invaluable member of the organization and expects to be treated that way.

Abilities/Weaponry: As with other members of the Organization, Vexen controls a single element: ice. He can manipulate it into any form he desires, using it both offensively and defensively with a great amount of proficiency. He is also very intelligent and a great scientist, allowing him to plan and conduct experiments to further the Organization’s knowledge on hearts and assist in their goal of regaining their own.

As with other members of the Organization, he can open corridors through the darkness and control lesser Nobodies.

His weapon is a large blue shield rimmed with spikes. Many have laughed at his choice of weapon and have found themselves beaten into oblivion with it, as he is quite skilled in both its offensive and defensive capabilities.

Weaknesses: Fire is of course a great weakness for Vexen, as it is the one thing against which his element is extremely weak. When he is angered, his temper narrows his focus greatly and often leads him to miss things he would normally notice or blurt out things he would never say.

Finally, like other Nobodies, he seems to have a great weakness against the Keyblade.

History: Vexen began his life as Even, a man with a past he considered irrelevant before he discovered science in his early twenties. His studious nature, natural intellect, and high success rate in his experiments soon brought him to the forefront of his field, where he was noticed by one of the greatest scientists and rulers of the time: Ansem the Wise. Along with five other promising scientists, Even became an apprentice under Ansem the Wise, and his studies soon turned to those of the heart. Xehanort, one of the other apprentices, was soon to be Ansem’s favorite and became the unofficial spokesperson for the rest of the apprentices.

In turning down Xehanort’s requests to continue with their experiments on the heart to the point where they would be testing the heart of the world, Ansem the Wise also denied the desires of the other five apprentices. Rallying under Xehanort, they soon turned against their erstwhile master, banishing him into the darkness, releasing that same darkness upon their home world of Radiant Garden, and allowing their hearts to be swallowed.

From this series of events came the first six members of Organization XIII. Even became their number IV: Vexen, the Chilly Academic. No longer hampered by morals and emotions, he has since conducted greater and more complex experiments upon the heart, hoping to further both his understanding and the Organization’s goals. Paixao, to him, is just another experiment, albeit on a much grander scale of those he has performed before.
